Substitutes are needed throughout the year for various positions from classrooms to office staff.  There are requirements that must be met to work as a substitute.  If you meet the requirements; you will be able to select the type of jobs you are interested in and be provided with instructions on using the automated sub system. 


Substitute Pay Scale.


Substitutes reporting to work after 11:30 a.m. and working for the remainder of the day will be paid one-half of the daily rate.  Substitutes reporting to work before 11:30 a.m. and working for the remainder of the day will be paid the full daily rate.


All prospective employees (including substitutes) of the La Vega Independent School District are required to submit fingerprints.  You are required to complete the fingerprinting and will be responsible for the payment.  If you have already been fingerprinted; you will not need to complete this process again. 


Substitute Training - All training is provided through Region 12 Education Service Center or another Educational Agency and is mandatory in order to work as a substitiute for La Vega ISD.  Certified and Non-certified substitutes are required to have the training.  You can find out about training with Region 12 at 254-297-1244.  You are responsible for the costs of the class.

Exception:  If you are a retired certified teacher or have taught within the last 3 years; you are not required to complete the training. 


If you do not want to complete the fingerprint requirement and do not have the training certificate - STOP here and do not complete the application.


If you agree to complete the fingerprinting and certificate requirement; complete and submit the application.  Your information will be uploaded to the Texas Education Agency and an email will be sent to you to schedule your fingerprint appointment.  Once the fingerprinting is complete; you will be notified and eligible to complete online information forms that will provide us with the information needed to get you set up.
